According to a sales representative at a European-style fur store, the rising demand for fur clothing has been accompanied by a shortage of raw materials. This year, the average price increase for various fur materials reached 25%, with suede prices climbing as high as 40%. Meanwhile, the down jacket market has also seen dramatic price increases. At the city’s down jacket market, branded items from Bosideng, Islay, and Jieao are significantly more expensive than last year. Sales professionals at Islay confirmed that the cost of raw materials—whether down filling, synthetic fibers, or cotton fabric—has gone up. The price of 95% high-quality down has soared from 80,000 yuan per ton last year to around 300,000 yuan this year. In addition, fabrics, linings, and accessories have all become more expensive.
