In a recent development, it has been announced that starting from January 1 this year, several product categories—including textile and clothing items, disposable hygiene products, solar lights, baby carriages, and related parts—must now undergo inspection and quarantine before being exported. This information was disclosed by the Quanzhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.
The news comes as the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) issued an official notice on the formal inclusion of certain goods into the "Cyber Inspection Catalogue." Effective from January 1, 2009, these products are now subject to mandatory inspection and quarantine upon import and export. Prior to this, a two-year transitional period was in place following the announcement of the updated legal inspection catalog. During that time, no inspections or fees were applied to the newly added products. However, this transitional phase has now officially concluded, meaning all previously included goods must now pass inspection before they can be exported.
According to reports, Quanzhou’s list of inspected products includes infant and children’s clothing, undergarments, shirts, pajamas, swimwear, diapers, sanitary napkins, and toilet paper. These items affect over 400 companies in the city, with an estimated annual export value of around $10 billion. The new regulations are expected to have a significant impact on local manufacturers, requiring them to adjust their production and export processes to meet the updated standards.
This change reflects a broader effort by Chinese authorities to strengthen quality control and ensure consumer safety in both domestic and international markets. Exporters are now advised to stay informed about the latest requirements and prepare accordingly to avoid disruptions in their supply chains.
