China's garment industry has experienced 30 years of reform and opening up and has gradually developed a clothing market with Chinese characteristics. As one of the important industries for accelerating China's economic development, China's apparel industry has begun to show its prominence in the apparel industry in the world in recent years. At the same time, a number of well-known entrepreneurs have emerged in China. Wu Jianmin, chairman of Shandong Shulang Garment Co., Ltd., is one of them.

When Li Jinhua, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited the Shandong Shulang Clothing & Accessories Co., Ltd., the chairman of the company, Wu Jianmin, reported on production, operation and development.

After decades of experience, “Shulang” has become a product design, development, and production company, relying on the spirit of “respecting the tradition and creating the future”, the company’s abundant financial support, scientific and effective management, advanced technology and equipment, and the tenacious efforts of its employees. As a company integrating sales, it has a certain influence in the world apparel industry and has become a recognized northern women's wear enterprise in the Chinese garment industry.

In recent years, the rapid development of "Shulang" has been recognized and welcomed by the garment industry, accelerating the pace of the North China women's movement to the world. On July 30, the reporter interviewed Wu Jianmin. At the same time, Wu also serves as the vice chairman of the National Association of Industry and Commerce Textile and Apparel Chamber of Commerce, vice chairman of the Shandong Garment Industry Association, and president of the Yantai Clothing Industry Association.

Do not export only domestic sales

Wu Jianmin, a man who grew up on the North Sea, has a deep friendship with his trendy women. More than 10 years ago, Wu Jianmin founded the Shulang company on his own initiative. Today, "Shu Lang" has not only become the first women's fashion brand in the north and the top ten in the country, but also has become a clothing brand in North China that is in line with international standards.

Wu Jianmin told reporters that to understand the Chinese garment industry, we must understand the textile industry. In the planned economy, due to the national economy and the people’s livelihood in the textile industry, the state focused on the textile industry, so that the apparel industry has not received attention in the early stages of China’s reform and opening up. But just as there are two sides of a coin, this just created an independent living environment for the garment industry, which allowed the garment industry to develop a strong survivability in the early stages and emerged many real entrepreneurs.

Wu Jianmin believes that as China's garment industry has risen much later than abroad, the current Chinese garment industry is still in the development stage. The challenge is the lack of talent and independent innovation brand. Therefore, "cultivating talent, independent innovation" is a problem worthy of attention by garment companies.

From a national point of view, Shandong ranks fourth in total textile output. The main form of marketing is “large foreign trade, small domestic sales”. To develop stronger and bigger, the garment industry in Shandong and the whole country should turn to domestic sales and create brands. It is reported that, unlike many clothing companies in China, “Shulang” does not export, only domestic sales, and mostly imported equipment, raw materials imports are relatively small. Only by creating independent enterprises with Chinese characteristics can we make the world have a newer understanding of the Chinese garment industry.

Currently, Shulang has more than 4,000 employees, 60 senior ladies' production lines, 950 installed units (sets), a modern computer-aided design system, and a highly automated cutting and sewing machine. Japan, Germany and other countries import, processing and production of 1.2 million haute couture.
